CHOOSING A SKI
Of course we recommend you to ski on our Odyssey,
but for second best you might also choose the skis below if
our length and flex don't sound like they are right for you. Why
spend such high prices when you can purchase a good performing ski for
wholesale.
Dare to be different...
BUT IF YOU MUST PURCHASE ANOTHER SKI -
Here are some picks as to the model and brands of skis that I personally would demo if I weren't already skiing on ODYSSEYS. Remember most of these ski models are made using my patent criteria.
If you are looking for a well rounded all-terrain ski, and If you are a heavier skier, (over 190 lbs), you may not find any models in a firm enough flex for stability at speed.
Most ski areas have a demo rental in their rental area. You can try several pair in a day if you take them back after a few runs. Try them out. Find out what feels good for you. If you are an average skier you will instantly note the improvement in your skiing with a mid-fat ski.
Expert skiers are making claim to the midfats and fat skis saying they are the only ones that can handle these widths. They are wrong, But they sure like the benefits they get from the midfats. I sincerely believe that time will bring the industry to the inevitable. Physics will finally prevail. But it is going to take the public to speak out to the manufacturers so they get the message that the public needs these wider skis at a reasonable price. Why should the experts and those willing to pay the high price be the only ones to have the advantage of the wider ski?
Here is a list of other skis you might want
to try.
Remember we are the only
company custom flexing skis, one of the only US
ski manufacturers. Some of the major companies are starting to get
the idea so ask your store reps.
If you are looking for a mid-fat ski like the
ODYSSEY, that is not only good in powder and crud, but is a blast
on the groomers, you might want to try one or more of the following
models, they have the right mix of dimensions and are potential alternative
if you find one with the proper flex for your weight. The wider
the waist the more flotation for powder.

Remember: Wider is better, and demo skis
under 175cm if they are available. If you start requesting a stiffer
flex if you are over 185lbs maybe per chance the manufacturer will become
obligated to produce them for us.
Thanks for your indulgence in this long winded explanation of why and how the mid-fat shaped ski should be benefiting you the skier. I would love to get your e-mails and hear what you have found out and feel. I will try to return all communications.
Sincerely,
Paul Nelson
